The aim of the study is to explore the nature and circumstances of complaints made against police officers by members of the public who had been subjected to a stop and/or search by the police in England and Wales. The data are drawn from the first 10011 such complaints reported to the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) from between April 1st 2000 and March 16th 2001.
