The aim of this report is to illuminate the street-level meeting between young Danes with minority ethnic backgrounds and the police. The study is based on the relationship and interaction between the young people and the police, and thus in the parties’ concrete and everyday meetings. It describes how these meetings are experienced by both young people from ethnic minorities and police officers. Among other things, the study shows that the young people feel an acute sense of being treated unfairly and in turn creates situations of high level of conflict. The study illustrates that young people believe that the police are intervening because of racism and lack of professionalism. The police thus often become an institution they do not trust and have no respect for.
