The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), established by the Council of Europe, is an independent monitoring institution in the field of human rights. Specialized in the issues of combating racism and intolerance, it is composed of independent and impartial members, appointed on the basis of their moral authority and recognized competence in dealing with issues related to racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism and intolerance. As part of its statutory activities, ECRI carries out control work country by country, which analyze the situation in each of the member states, and formulate suggestions and proposals for dealing with the problems identified. In this Report is focused the police violence against some social and ethnic groups.
